If you're planning on launching one in near future, then YES. 
 
For games, platform doesn't matter. I've used the timeline template for launching on Steam before. The basics are constant regardless of your platform choice.
I have an app, will this strategy work for me?
 
 
 
As long as it is an app for iOS or Android platform (sorry, no mac or windows), then yes it will. As a matter of fact, I've used this template for launching 3 paid apps that topped the charts in the app store.
